We acted for a defendant accused of involvement in an incident on the train Ravinder Khumra acted for a young person caught up in an incident which was widely reported as gang related. This was untrue, but the ‘story’ was more important.

Benefits prosecution

Ravinder Khumra acted for a Defendant in a prosecution brought by a Local Authority. The press reports focussed on matters which did not reflect the true position of her case, and so Ravinder was asked to correct inaccuracies.

Terror camp trial concludes

The ‘terror-training’ camp concluded with convictions against all defendants. Paul acted for one of the Defendants who had earlier pleaded guilty to allegations brought that they were involved in training for terror attacks

Terror camp trial commences

The first ‘terror-training’ camp trial started recently. Paul Butcher together with Henry Blaxland QC and Adrian Eissa acted for one of the Defendants. Paul represented one of the Defendants who faced trial over allegations they were involved in a terror-training camp.

Riot at Detention Centre

Harmondsworth Riot arrests and prosecution. Jon Black appeared as junior counsel in this case at Croydon Crown Court.

Red Mercury trial

Following a lengthy trial at Old Bailey, all defendants were acquited of charges relating to ‘red mercury’ following a ‘sting’ operation by the News of The World. Closure of Bow Street Magistrates

We acted for the last person to appear before Bow Street Magistrates Court Jon Black represented a client of ours who was the last person to appear in court at Bow Street. Jon and many others mourned the passing of an historic court centre.

Armed Robbery Case

Our clients faced serious allegations of armed robbery Jim Skelsey and Paul Butcher were all involved in acting for two of the defendants facing trial for a series of armed robberies. The Court threw out a large drugs and money-laundering prosecution at Southwark Crown Court after an 18 month application to stay the proceedings as an abuse of process.
