Victoria Duffy

Victoria is a Paralegal at BSB Solicitors. She joined the firm in January 2022 and supports the partners on a wide-range of criminal defence matters. She is also instructed on a variety of legally aided criminal defence cases as well as undertaking fare evasion matters on a regular basis. As a probationary police station representative, Victoria also undertakes to represent clients in police stations across London and the South East.

Victoria has undertaken numerous privately-funded fare evasion matters with both TFL and national railway companies that have secured formal warnings and seen the disposal of prosecutions against her clients over the years. Clients have approached Victoria for instruction in such matters at the very late stages of the prosecution process. Recent successes have included representing a client in the heavily regulated industry of finance, securing a formal warning for a client who was advised at court to plead guilty. Victoria also represented a Ukrainian refugee and secured a formal warning on successful appeal after a protracted process of negotiation with TFL.

Victoria has represented and advised vulnerable, neurodivergent and youth clients in police station interviews where interpreters and appropriate adults have been required in a range of matters including burglary, assault, harassment, malicious communications and stalking. She has also been instructed in post-charge, legally aided matters and prepared client cases for trial in both the Crown court and Magistrates’ Court under the supervision of the partners at BSB Solicitors.

Victoria has successfully written representations to both the CPS and police, applying the Code for Crown Prosecutors to secure out of court disposal for her clients, including one case that saw the CPS drop a charge against a client with no previous convictions, for possession of an offensive weapon. She also secured a decision to take no further action in a pre-charge case to the Metropolitan police against a vulnerable client with complex mental health concerns in a matter of indecent exposure.

Before coming to BSB Solicitors, Victoria was a Gateway Advisor at Citizens Advice, as well as having undertaken pro-bono work at Amicus ALJ and INQUEST, among others. Victoria read History at University College London, before completing her law conversion training at BPP University London. Victoria went on to successfully complete her barristers’ vocational training with Merit and was called to the Bar at Middle Temple in 2023, qualifying as an unregistered barrister in the same year.
